The 2007 Z4M Coupe (E86M) has been exhibiting symptoms such as radio audio cutting off, ABS, DSC, and Brake lights flashing on and off. The author tested the battery voltage and found that it was low [1], and then tested the alternator and voltage regulator and concluded that they were working properly [2]. The author connected the battery to a battery monitor to see if any faults would be displayed, and one code (5E16) appeared that they were able to clear [2]. The author then tested the steering angle sensor and Electronic Immobilise System 3 (EWS3) and found that both were working properly [2]. The author then tested the radio and found that they had two codes (1 and 2) that were electrical in nature and that they were able to clear [2]. The author then replaced the battery [2]. Finally, the author tested the car again and found that the symptoms returned after driving for only 10 minutes [2]. The ABS/DSC lamps on the instrument cluster that are lit can be produced from 3/31/14 to 3/30/16 [3], and fault codes may be saved in the DSC control unit [3].
